At a recent meeting the board of directors reviewed MedCo’s operations and the (unaudited) accounts for the year ended 31st December 2024. During that review the board took into account the estimated annual operating costs and capital expenditure for 2025. The board then went on to consider the charging policy to commence on 6th April 2025.

When setting fees the board have sought to use surplus funds to abate MRO fees, however, in my update last year I indicated that continuing to do is unsustainable and that it decided to gradually increase user fees with the intention of a break-even point in the near future. That principle remains in place for 2025 fees.

As part of the move toward a break even-point, the board have committed to investigate the possibility of raising funds from additional sources in time for the fee review in 2026.

For DMEs, the charging policy will be updated to reflect the new DME User Agreement that says following termination, MedCo will calculate any outstanding fees due in accordance with the MedCo Charging Policy and will issue a final invoice which should be paid in accordance with Clause 8.
