Claimant Representative – Register
Before you register
Before you register as a Claimant Representative with MedCo, your organisation must be registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and provide a valid ICO number which we will verify with the ICO register of fee payers. If you do not have an ICO registration, you can find out how to register on the ICO website www.ico.org.uk
Please also consider the steps below before submitting an application to register.
Step 1: Professional identification
To register as a Claimant Representative we will check with your regulator that you are authorised to conduct litigation in England and Wales. Accordingly, you will be required to provide your regulator identification number as issued by the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority (SRA), the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) or the Bar Standards Board.
To register as a Claims Management Company, we require evidence that you are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and that you also have permission to conduct personal injury activity in England and Wales.
This information is used as a part of the due diligence checks to confirm your organisation is suitable to use the MedCo service.
Step 2: Read the requirement to declare direct Financial Links
All Claimant Representative Authorised users of MedCo must declare any direct financial links they have that meet the Ministry of Justice statement on direct financial links.

Step 3: Read the User Agreement
To become operational a medical expert must complete the initial online accreditation training and thereafter commit to completing Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
