Ensuring the independence and quality of medical reports for low value soft tissue injury claims/whiplash injuries is a key part of MedCo’s role. That includes maintaining the ongoing quality and value of medical expert’s training through the MedCo Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme.

Mandatory Training – All Experts

A new course ‘Quality Assurance’ is the first of our mandatory modules and is now available for completion by all experts in the usual way via MedCo training accounts.

From Monday 02 February 2026 experts will notice a new ‘Mandatory’ tab along the top of the home page when experts log into their MedCo training account which is where the module can be located

Experts will have 4 weeks to complete the course. If the course is not completed by 28 February 2026, experts will be suspended until completion of the mandatory module.

Mandatory modules are in addition to the annual 6-hour requirement. Therefore, even if experts have completed the 2025/2026 CPD requirement, they must still complete this additional module.

New Best Practice Module – CPD

We have also launched a new module covering Best Practice Guidance to act as a refresher course and covers all aspects of medico legal report writing for the first fixed recoverable cost medical report. This course can be accessed via experts training accounts. This course is not mandatory and can be selected as part of your annual 6 hours of CPD.

Experts will be aware that they are required to complete 6 hours of MedCo Continuous Professional Development annually. The deadline for completion of the 2025-2026 CPD period is 31 May 2026.
