IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

CORONAVIRUS – REMOTE EXAMINATIONS

New National Restrictions

On Thursday 5 November new national restrictions are being introduced by the Government see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november.

The Government guidance states a number of exemptions for the purposes of travel, one of which is hospital GP and other medical appointments or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health”. It should be noted that MedCo has interpreted this exemption as being applicable for the purposes of medical treatment only.

Consequently, medical report providers should not conduct face to face medical examinations while the restrictions are in force.  Where such appointments have already been made immediate steps should be taken to cancel them and alternative arrangements made to either reschedule to a remote examination or defer to a later date.

All Users should read this notice in conjunction with the MedCo guidance issued on 3rd July 2020 see – https://www.medco.org.uk/media/1220/remote-examination-guidelines-v50.pdf.
